Announcing Triple-Pane Windows

The California Multifamily New Homes (CMFNH) program announces incentives for an exciting new measure—thin-glass, triple-pane windows. These triple-pane windows fit in the same window openings as double-pane windows, are significantly more energy efficient than standard windows, and reduce energy spending necessary to maintain a comfortable temperature inside the home.

CMFNH has doubled the high-performance fenestration bonus to $150 per unit for installing these triple-pane windows in projects (see program flyer for additional eligibility details) permitted to the 2016 Title 24 code. Each unit will also receive an additional $6 per square foot of glazing (windows only). This is in addition to earning base incentives—so pairing the base incentive with bonuses may cover a significant portion of the incremental cost of installation. For more information on the requirements, please view the program flyer.

About Triple-Pane Windows

Thin-glass, triple-pane windows feature a very thin layer of glass in-between two layers of a double-glazed window, add a second low-e coating, and replace the argon gas with krypton gas, which is much more insulating than argon in the very narrow space between the panes. These triple-pane windows fit in the same sized openings as double-pane, so there is no need to redesign the window sash and frame for installation.
