Living Building Challenge for Affordable Housing Projects

Home / Events / Living Building Challenge for Affordable Housing Projects

The Living Building Challenge, offered by the International Living Future Institute (ILFI), is a green building certification program that promotes environmental sustainability and seeks to improve the health and well-being of building occupants. Recently, the Institute announced a pilot program specific to affordable housing projects called On the Path to Certification: Living Building Challenge Affordable Housing Pilot Projects – Round Three.

The Pilot’s goal is to encourage affordable housing projects to pursue Living Building Challenge certifications or zero net energy certification. The Institute will select ten affordable housing projects to receive a package of free technical assistance (including ILFI membership, facilitation of a design charrette, and much more) that will help the project earn certification. The Pilot will assist developers with understanding, selecting, and earning said building certifications.
